Just in time for National Nutrition Month, now there’s an app that will help parents with picky eaters get kids excited about trying healthy new goods– and help support The Junior League Kids in the Kitchen initiative!
The new experiential learning app for iPhone and iPads from Bean Sprouts – a hip and healthy kid-friendly café and cooking school co-founded by Junior League of Colorado Springs member Kelly Parthen – is called Bean Sprouts: Cooking Fun for Kids. The app is free from March 7-9 in the iTunes online store. After that, it will cost $0.99, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Kids in the Kitchen.
Designed for children eight and under, the app features a cute cast of silly pea and bean characters who guide users through playful recipes, star in food games and magically appear in videos. The app offers a play-by-play on creating the most popular “Imaginibbles” recipes from Bean Sprouts Café and the award-winning book it inspired: Bean Appétit: Hip and Healthy Ways to Have Fun with Food.
The app is also a perfect complement to the work so many Leagues are doing with the KITK program, with its hands-on, in-the-kitchen experiences to teach children about healthy eating.
