Big Taste of Little Rock, The Junior League of Little Rock’s fourth cookbook, clinched the award for Best Fundraising Cookbook in the World by Gourmand International at the Paris Cookbook Fair on Feb. 11.
After being chosen in a preliminary round of competition as the Best Fundraising Cookbook in the United States, the cookbook automatically advanced to the world competition. Stephanie Bynum, chair of the Leagues Cookbook Committee, traveled to Paris to receive the award.
“Big Taste of Little Rock is a wonderful cookbook and it was an honor just to receive the award for Best Fundraising Cookbook in the U.S.,” said Bynum. “But winning Best Fundraising Cookbook in the World is a pinnacle achievement for the city of Little Rock, The Junior League of Little Rock, and the many volunteers and individuals across the city who helped develop it.”
Released to the public in January 2009 and priced at $29.95, the collection of 250 recipes has sold 10,000 copies to date and raised more than $30,000. All proceeds have been used to help fund community projects that benefit women, children, and seniors in central Arkansas.
Founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau, the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards drew participants from 100 countries.
