AJLI Executive Director Susan Danish has been unusually prolific in the last week.

First she penned a piece entitled “If a Nonprofit Falls in the Forest” for Stanford Social Innovation Review on the disappearance of reporters from the not-for-profit beat and the negative effect this development could have on the ability of these organizations to do their jobs in putting forth compelling ideas an solving urgent societal problems.

Second, she posted another piece on Huffington Post entitled “Unleashing the Power of the Volunteer Is a Great Idea!” that cites the power of voluntarism to bring about change at the national level and to make an impact on a local level. In addition she provides guidelines to effective and lasting volunteer engagement based on the experiences of The Junior League, which was founded in 1901.
