It is said that the name “Harvey” means “warrior.”

And a warrior Hurricane Harvey has proven to be. For those of us not in Houston or the other many communities in Southeastern Texas, we watch the news and see unimaginable devastation from the winds, tornadoes and rain. It’s hard to imagine what five inches of rain per hour looks like and what damage lies ahead as rain continues and flooding is imminent.

At AJLI, we reached out to our South Texas Junior Leagues last Thursday, and over the weekend. We will keep League leaders posted once we hear from the individual League Presidents. We know that across the Association, members stand ready to help. Those wishing to provide immediate assistance are encouraged to give to the American Red Cross. Longer term, we will share specific ways that Leagues can help the South Texas Leagues and their communities.

Harvey is a warrior, but we are fighting back. Read about what Leagues are doing locally to lead, convene and collaborate in this time of crisis.
